Editorial standards

Who creates the content, how it is reviewed, and why it exists.

The project is designed to help visitors practise consumer price reasoning. This page documents the editorial process so that game values, explanatory notes and outside resources are not mistaken for live commercial offers.

Who publishes the site

Frame a price is an independent consumer price-learning project created, reviewed and maintained by Jeremy Martinet. It is not operated by a retailer, manufacturer, price-comparison company or advertising network.

The site does not claim laboratory testing or professional financial expertise. Its value comes from turning familiar product specifications, materials and ownership costs into a transparent estimating exercise.

How references are selected

Products are chosen because they are recognisable enough to estimate and varied enough to teach a reusable comparison method. Each entry represents a defined product type and configuration rather than every item sold under a broad category name.

Local values are manually maintained as static, indicative gameplay references for France, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany. They are not scraped live, and they deliberately exclude short-lived coupons, delivery charges and individual marketplace listings.

What the figures mean

A value in the game is a reference point, not a quotation or recommendation. Taxes, model revisions, regional specifications, exchange rates, stock and promotions can all produce a different checkout price. The product detail and date context should be read together with the number.

Country values remain in their local source currencies. Optional display conversion uses fixed game rates so a session stays consistent; it must not be used as a current foreign-exchange calculation.

Writing and software assistance

Software tools may assist with drafting, consistency checks, formatting and identifying duplicate catalogue language. They do not publish autonomously. Jeremy reviews and edits the product notes, guides, navigation and final build before release.

Where a guide links to an outside public authority, that resource is provided as independent further reading for the general comparison principle. External sources do not provide, certify or endorse Frame a price’s own indicative values.

Corrections and review cycle

Catalogue text is checked for missing country values, duplicate identifiers, vague anecdotes, broken media and implausible ranges before a release. Guides carry a visible review date and are revised when their examples or comparison method materially change.

Readers can report a questionable fact, image or price through the contact page. A useful report includes the product, country, observed issue and a public reference. Corrections are reviewed manually rather than copied automatically into the catalogue.

Material published changes are recorded in the update log; routine maintenance and unpublished work are not presented as editorial updates.

Independence and monetisation

Advertising and the single post-game affiliate link do not determine which products appear, their reference values or the conclusions of a guide. Sponsored links are labelled and use sponsored link attributes. The catalogue remains readable without following a retailer link.
